Aaron Salyapongse, M.D.

Joint Replacement

Dr. Salyapongse graduated from Northwestern University with a Bachelor of Arts degree. He obtained his MD from the St. Louis University School of Medicine. He completed his internship and residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at St. Mary’s Medical Center in San Francisco, CA. He then traveled to Boston, MA, and served as an Otto E. Aufranc Total Joint Fellow at the New England Baptist Hospital, where he was extensively trained in the diagnosis and treatment of disorders of the hip, knee, and shoulder. He studied tissue-preserving hip replacement, computer-assisted surgery, total hip resurfacing, and complex hip and knee reconstructions.

As a fellowship-trained Hip and Knee Surgeon, Dr. Salyapongse is proud to offer a specialized approach in the treatment of general orthopaedic problems with a special focus in Hip and Knee Surgery. He utilizes minimally invasive techniques (including the Anterior Approach and Quadriceps-Sparing approaches) that provide the potential for shorter recovery times, accelerated rehabilitation, and durable, long-lasting joint replacements. He also specializes in the diagnosis of problems and treatment of patients who have already had their joints replaced.

Dr. Salyapongse serves as the Medical Director of Joint Replacement at The ValleyCare Hospital Joint Replacement Institute. He has extensive experience with the various techniques and implants that have been specifically designed for patients of all ages and every activity level. He is well versed in the use of alternative bearing surfaces (e.g. metal-on-metal, ceramic, and highly cross-linked polyethylene), large femoral head diameters, and the Birmingham Total Hip Resurfacing system
